The Weekend of the Big Move

I'm wondering whether moving items from one home to another is as traumatic in cyberspace as it is in real life?

Here's what we (me and Seven) have:

  1. A 2000cc home with an upstairs and a basement. This is a very conventional looking structure, with a lawn surrounding the house. We've made this into a tribute to the Doc and Seven characters for their fans. It's pretty much complete, down to my lab in the basement. The property holds over three times the normal allotment of objects for a home (I know the trick to surpass the quota), and takes time even for me to wait for the items to appear.

  2. As the ECH, I own a 200cc modular home with tubes between rooms. This has been crafted with photoshop floors and video screenshot wallpaper to resemble areas of Voyager, with the exception of the Space Room. Other rooms are the Transporter Room, Escher Room, and Holodeck. Outside I have a patio bar and some chairs, plus a carnival game. More on this home in a future post.

The game plan is to start Seven up with the same type of 2000cc home, and - room by room - pick up my stuff, transfer them over to her account, then drop them in the same places. If we're lucky, the process will take only a few hours. I can see some places like the Babe Wall (a wall of framed photos of the important women in Doc's life) may be a bit of a challenge. Server lags might also be a problem. This will eventually be linked from websites (I, Holodoc and DDGalleries), probably call it "Doc & Seven's Place" or something.

I'll probably keep some specialty items like the Ya-Ya Tree. This will give us the chance to upgrade into something fancier for "Photons Be Free."

Oh Woe, Where Did My Money Go?

I just got paid yesterday. Within 24 hours, I have left about US$160 to work with until next paycheck. Not only did I have high utility bills (thanks to Con Ed and needing an AC), but I also had two domains to renew. Sheesh! I guess next month I renew this domain site as well? I'd better head them off at the pass before they auto-collect.

It's a good thing I have nobody to go to the San Gennaro Festival with this year (grrrrrrr). I can just go right home tonight and spend the weekend as a happy hologram.

Voyager? Only One Flight a Week???

It appears that UPN9 aka WWOR in the New York City metropolitan area is to begin running Voyager on Sundays at 6pm, just prior to the Enterprise rebroadcasts.

Think they're trying to win the stubborn naysayers over? There's usually a classic TNG at 7 on TNN, so I'm not going to linger.

Unfortunately, we're landing smack in the middle of stinky season 7. They interrupted the run from seasons 1-4 with season 7 THREE TIMES this year. Oh UPN, why do you torture us so? Is it because we ignore your ads and never watch the Hughleys?

Rattro and I had words...

He/she/it showed up as both Janeway and a new Tuvok identity on Saturday. Janeway had continued her debate over the bridge with Picard. It's not easy controlling two 3D accounts at the same time with the Blaxxun 3D plug-in. They had to have been working off two browsers on the same computer, because they kept messing up the voice between them. Eventually there would a long pause, while I assume the options were accessed to change the voice on that active screen. Then they left.

I went to place an object in my home - a new biobed - and there they both were... [more]

©DD. I know who I am, and you know who you are, and you're not me, so don't use something of mine unless I say it's okay. I made the graphics from scratch, and the web elements with a simple text editor. Being the nature of this is a personal journal, there's really no room for argument. Either you agree or disagree, either you choose to read this or you do not. Each of us has our story, the impact of the sum of parts that is life which carve the lessons into our mind. If my perceptions amuse you, then I've done my part. Thank you for visiting and continuing to visit.
